Disney released its first trailer for Jungle Cruise, and it looks like quite the adventure—equal parts Anaconda and The Mummy.
Lily Houghton (Emily Blunt) is a scientist on a mission to find the fabled Tree of Life (and apparently not above a bit of thievery in the process). As her guide through the jungle, she hires Frank (Dwanye Johnson), a riverboat captain whose creaky old vessel is better suited to swindling easily-impressed tourists.
According to Disney’s YouTube blurb:
Inspired by the famous Disneyland theme park ride, Disney’s Jungle Cruise is an adventure-filled, Amazon-jungle expedition starring Dwayne Johnson as the charismatic riverboat captain and Emily Blunt as a determined explorer on a research mission. Also starring in the film are Edgar Ramirez, Jack Whitehall, with Jesse Plemons, and Paul Giamatti.

Is it just me or does this look like little more than a promo for a new Disney ride?
Just waiting on the inevitable crossover with Pirates of the Caribbean, and possible Disney Attraction Cinematic Universe franchise.
I personally can’t wait for the Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse Line-Ride film. That, or the Carousel of Progress.
@2,
The Dumbo Line Ride would be a lot longer maybe a miniseries.
@1 – You’re not wrong for thinking that (and neither is Scorsese).
I really don’t know if we need it…
Well, if they didn’t put the only funny bits in the trailer so that the rest is funny too, I can live with a Mummy/Anaconda/African Queen cross as entertainment. If it doesn’t take itself serious and I don’t, we can have some beer & popcorn fun.
@I LOLD at DACU.
Anyway, it looks like a fun way to pass the time – I saw the preview earlier, before I knew what it was for, and already thought it looked fun.
I just really wish the Skipper’s name was Dan :) :)
I’ll probably see this.
I’m far more interested to see how this squares with the Mary Poppins universe.
Anaconda… Uuuuuuh apart from getting professional help to go up the Amazon for something “amazing” this trailer has no similarities to Anaconda. Its tonally childish with little emphasis on tension and high emphasis on big cutetsy acting like the dialogue and actions from a squrrile girl book
A long time ago this type of ffilm would have been on the Disney channel. No its not like A. Mummy… Hnnnm I can kinda see it. Both kinda are adventurous and light
